 2018 Preview 


       Park Crossing completed the 2017 season with a 10-2 record. Last year Park Crossing captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class 6A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Park Crossing reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Opelika by a score of 27-21.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Park Crossing ranked 53rd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.9 points a game.

       Over the past two seasons the Thunderbirds have gone 23-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition.

       Park Crossing is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only four seasons. They have managed a record of 38-9 over the past four years.




       The Thunderbirds will be under the direction of new head football coach Angelo Wheeler as they enter the 2018 season.

       Coach Wheeler's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 5-25 (16.7%).

       The Park Crossing Thunderbirds will play in Class 6A region two during the 2018 season.

       While most teams rebuild during the off season, Park Crossing has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Thunderbirds should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Thunderbirds open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Lee Montgomery on Friday, August 24 at Cramton Bowl. Last year the Lee Montgomery Generals finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 7A region two. The Generals lost in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs to Central Phenix City by a score of 42-14.

       Park Crossing and Lee Montgomery have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Thunderbirds have a 1-5-0 record against the Generals. They last met in 2017 with Lee Montgomery winning by a score of 28-17.

       College prospects include: Darius Hodges (6-3, 240) inside linebacker, Tacorey Turner (6-2, 185) safety,

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
